Why Fresh Ingredients Behave Differently

Think about the foods in your kitchen.

None of those changes mean the food has gone bad.

One of the easiest ways to make a skincare product look exactly the same every single day of the year is to formulate for shelf stability first.

We chose a different path.

Instead of asking,

"How do we make this cream look identical no matter what?"

we asked,

"How do we create the most nourishing formula for the skin?"

That decision led us to ingredients like organic grass-fed tallow, botanical oils, peptides, ceramides, bakuchiol, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidant-rich plant extracts.

Every ingredient is there because it supports your skin.

Not because it forces the cream to maintain one perfect appearance.

What Can Cause the Texture to Change?

Sometimes customers are surprised that even a small temperature change can affect the texture of Dream Cream.

That's because natural fats respond to heat.

A warm bathroom.

A sunny windowsill.

A mailbox in July.

A delivery truck on a summer afternoon.

Even a home that's just a few degrees warmer than usual can soften the cream.

These changes affect the texture.

They do not affect the integrity of the formula.

We Didn't Want to Guess. So We Tested It.

When customers began asking about summer shipping, we wanted facts—not assumptions.

Our master formulator recreated extreme shipping conditions in the laboratory, exposing Dream Cream to temperatures far beyond what it would normally experience during transit.

The testing answered the questions we cared about most.

Would the active ingredients remain stable?

Would the skin-friendly pH stay balanced?

Would the cream still perform the way it was designed to?

The answer was yes.

Even after exposure to extreme heat, the formula remained chemically stable. Once properly reset, it consistently returned to its signature creamy texture.

That testing gave us confidence that a temporary change in texture is exactly that—temporary.

What Should I Do If My Dream Cream Changes Texture?

The good news is that most jars need very little intervention.

If your Dream Cream is simply a little softer than usual...

Place it in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours.

In many cases, that's all it needs.

If the cream has become grainy or the oils appear separated...

The formula likely experienced what's known as a partial melt.

Because different natural fats melt at different temperatures, some ingredients become liquid while others remain solid. If the cream cools in that state, it can develop a grainy texture.

Here's how to restore it:

Step 1: Place the sealed jar in a bowl of warm (not boiling) water until the entire formula becomes one smooth, golden liquid.

Step 2: Open the jar and whisk the liquid for 30–60 seconds using a clean milk frother (our favorite method), fork, or the back of a spoon.

Step 3: Place the lid back on and refrigerate the jar for 1–2 hours until it firms up again.

Once reset, your Dream Cream is ready to use just as you always have.

Does This Mean My Product Is Less Effective?

No.

A change in texture does not mean a change in performance.

Our testing confirmed that the active ingredients remain intact, the skin-supporting pH remains stable, and the formula continues to perform as intended after the reset process.

What changes is simply the physical arrangement of the natural fats—not the quality of the ingredients themselves.

That means you may notice slight differences in color, texture, firmness, or scent from one jar to the next. A cream made in January may feel a little firmer than one made in July. A jar that traveled through a hot delivery truck may arrive softer than one delivered in cooler weather.

These natural variations are not a sign that the formula has changed or that the product is less effective.

In fact, they're often a reflection of exactly what we set out to create: skincare made with real, fresh ingredients that haven't been over-engineered for perfect visual consistency.

What remains the same from every batch to the next is what matters most: the quality of our ingredients, the integrity of our formulation, and the care we put into every jar.

Why did my Dream Cream become grainy?

Graininess usually happens after a partial melt, when some natural fats liquefy while others remain solid. It can be easily restored by fully melting, mixing, and refrigerating the cream.

Can heat ruin Dream Cream?

Under normal shipping and everyday household conditions, temporary heat exposure may change the texture of Dream Cream, but it does not damage the formula.

When customers began asking about summer shipping, our master formulator didn't want to make assumptions. We intentionally subjected Dream Cream to heat levels far beyond what it would realistically experience in transit or during normal use.

Even under those extreme laboratory conditions, the formula remained chemically stable. The skin-friendly pH stayed within its intended range, the active ingredients remained intact, and the cream consistently returned to its signature texture after our recommended reset process.

The temperatures used during our laboratory testing were intentionally more severe than what your Dream Cream would typically encounter in a mailbox, on a delivery truck, or on your bathroom counter. They were designed to stress-test the formula and confirm its resilience—not to simulate everyday use.

In other words, while heat may temporarily change how Dream Cream looks or feels, it does not mean the product has lost its potency. What changes is the texture—not the integrity of the formula.

Should I refrigerate Dream Cream?

Dream Cream does not need to be stored in the refrigerator. It is designed to remain stable at normal room temperature when kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

That said, many of our customers prefer to refrigerate it, especially during the warmer summer months, because they enjoy the firmer texture and cooling sensation when applying it.

If your Dream Cream has softened during shipping or due to warmer temperatures in your home, placing it in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours is often all it needs to return to its rich, creamy consistency. If the cream has become fully melted or the oils have separated, we recommend following our simple reset process of fully melting, mixing, and then refrigerating the cream.

Whether you store it on your bathroom counter or in the refrigerator is entirely up to you. Your Dream Cream will remain just as nourishing and effective either way.
